Hair.

On Thursday, my dads hair started falling out in chunks. We knew it was time for it to be cut. I asked my dad if he was sad that his full head of hair would be gone... He looked at me, smiled, and said..."it's just hair. It will grow back!" :) He is right, it will grow back; but even if it doesn't, he is still as handsome as ever!

My adorable dad.

So a couple weeks ago I mentioned that some things were going on in my family. Well I think it's time to finally document these things and for my own journaling purposes, remember the feelings and experiences I have had.

Last November my dad started experiencing some abdominal pain. After a few trips to the doctor they determined it was just a virus or infection, gave him some medicine and sent him on his way. He felt good for a few weeks until he started experiencing similar pain in his lower back. The pain was near his kidneys and because of a few elevated levels in his blood tests he went to see a kidney specialist. On March 15th, my dad had a CT scan which indicated he had three large masses in his back, one which was attached to his left kidney. After a 5 hour doctors appointment the following day we knew the worst was happening. Cancer had found its way into my daddy's body and was spreading quickly. After a few more doctors, appointments and procedures my dad was officially diagnosed on March 23rd with diffuse large B cell lymphoma.

Before being officially diagnosed my family was able to participate in a family fast followed by a very spiritual, special evening with our family all gathered together. We received amazing counsel from our dear bishop, as well as from my dad. The meaning of being an eternal family has never been more important. The bishop was able to give my dad a blessing and ALL the men in our family were able to participate. I have no doubt in my mind that the fast and blessing given that day have made this situation the best it could possibly be.

My dad had his first chemo treatment two weeks ago, and will continue to go every three weeks for the next 4 months. It has been difficult to see him so sick and weak, but he is strong and positive and I know he will beat this. Through all the fear, sadness and anger, I have also felt love, peace and comfort. I know the spirit has been my constant companion and that heavenly father is blessing our family in so many ways. I am aware that there are many others who deal with trials even worse than this, but I am so grateful to know that we do not have to go through it alone.

I am not really sure how others make it through life's trials without the gospel and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am thankful I don't have to. Conference this month made me even more aware of how important it is that we do our very best to keep ALL of his commandments. And for those of us who have made sacred covenants in the temple, that we keep those covenants and try harder every day to do better. I am so thankful for my testimony, and for the testimony of those who surround me. I feel extremely blessed to be apart of such an amazing family! I know that because of our faith, my dad will be healed.

Thank you for everyone who has kept him and our family in your thoughts and prayers. It will be a long road to recovery, but we will get there! :) I love you daddy!! I'm sure going to miss that beautiful head of hair you have, but it is a small sacrifice to keep you around MUCH, MUCH longer!

The happiest, cutest cancer patient having his first Chemo treatment. One down, five to go!

Easter

Like always we had a wonderful Easter weekend spent with family. Being all together is even sweeter these days. I love my family and I love Easter. I love celebrating Christ and what he has done for us. I think more than ever, I am extremely grateful for the atonement and knowing my family can be together forever. :) Nothing is better than that.

April Second.

April 2nd is my favorite day of the whole year!
I know it sounds a little conceded, but I love my birthday. Not only is it fun to have birthday festivities, but it just means that its time for General Conference, spring break, and summer is just around the corner!
On my 13th birthday I got the best birthday present, when my niece Morgan was born! For the last ten years we have been sharing a birthday and I love it! This year Morgan wanted to go swimming for her birthday activity, so after spending all morning shopping with my mom and sisters, we headed down to Lehi to enjoy the rest of the day with the Cook family! We swam, got to snuggle baby Lauren, and ate some delicious pancakes at Ihop! :) It honestly wouldn't have mattered what we did that night, just being all together and hanging out is my favorite activity! I had a great day, and felt very loved!
23 is going to be a great year! :)
