Surprise weekend!

This weekend Matt planned a suprise weekend getaway. He has been planning this for the last couple weeks and could barely keep it a secret. He decided that for Valentines day he wanted to do something fun for the two of us. He booked us a room at the Armstrong Mansion in Salt Lake and made dinner reservations at Rodizio Grill. He picked me up early from work and after dropping off Maeby we were off to check into our room. I had no idea where we were going, and once we got there Matt wouldn't let me get out of the car until after he had gone in to "take care of things". Matt had upgraded our room to the romance package and didn't want me to know. He is seriously the sweetest cutest person in the world and I am soooo thankful every day that I married him.

After checking into our room and getting changed for dinner, we had to make a quick stop at gateway to pick up a shirt for Matt. He accidently brought the wrong color shirt, and it did not match his pants AT ALL

(this is what happens when I am not there to supervise the packing)

So we rushed down to gateway, and I ran into Gap to find a shirt.. I ended up finding three shirts that I liked, so I bought them all.. woops! :) Once we got his clothing taken care of we were off to dinner.

Matt had never eaten at Rodizio Grill before so he was excited to experience it all. He enjoyed everything he ate and was very stuffed by the end of the night! I would say dinner was a success!

We then headed back to the room to watch the movie we had rented and eat at the treats we picked up at the gas station. When we got back to our room, the entire room was covered in rose petals and candles! It was so cute! We enjoyed our stay, and got up early the next morning to get started on some shopping. We shopped around gateway for a while, then decided to go see The Vow. I liked it, but Matt thought it was little too cheesy for his liking, although I had higher expectations, I still was pleased with it. Once the movie was over, I was off to a sewing class with my mom and sisters to learn how to use our new fancy sewing machines. I'll be honest, after spending such a wonderful 2 days with my sweet Matthew, I was so sad to leave him. I may have cried a little bit as I drove away from him. I am so lucky to have Matt in my life and to know I get to be with him for eternity. I can't wait for the next chapters in our life! Every day with him just gets better and better!! Thank you for such a fun weekend Matt, I love you so much!

A baptism and a blessing.

Yesterday we spent the whole day with my family as we attended the baptism of our nephew Jason, and the blessing of his newest little sister, Lauren. We are so proud of Jason and the choice he made to be baptized! He is such a sweet boy and makes the best facial expressions of anyone I've ever met! We were also happy to witness the name and blessing given to sweet Lauren! She has been such a sweet baby and aside from the few birth defects she was born with, she is a healthy and happy! We just love her so much!!

I love any opportunity we have to all get together as a family and enjoy one another's company! I am also so grateful for the gospel and for all it has taught me in my life! Yesterday was a special day, and I am glad we were able to be apart of it! :)

I know this blog has been totally boring lately... but to be honest, nothing has really been going on in our lives! School started again so Matt spends most of his time studying.. and I mean literally almost ALL of his time. If we are home, his nose is in a book... I only have one class this semester because of scheduling conflicts, but I am trying not to be upset about it. Err.. I hate not being a full time student. So we are very boring! Hopefully we will have some sort of exciting or fun news to share eventually! Then maybe this blog can come back to life.

In the mean time.. Here are some pictures of Maeby in the last couple weeks. She is so funny, her little personality kills me. In the mornings she likes to be held like a baby while you scratch her belly... and mostly just snuggle up however she can! Because Matt has been so busy with school and studying, she has been going through withdrawls... She trys to get his attention whenever possible!

After we go on walks, she gets really tired... haha

And poor Maebs is not used to having carpet under the couch... She can't slide under as easily since its not wood floor anymore... The other day she went under to get her ball, and got stuck! She stayed like this for about 10 minutes until I could get her out! haha

Like I said.. She is DESPERATE for Matt's attention.. any way possible!

So I appoligize for not having anything exciting to read about or look at... but these pictures of my pup make me happy, so hopefully they will make you happy too!

Many of you know Sleepless in Seattle is my all time favorite movie.. and I catch myself quoting it all too often... but I think the title of this blog couldn't be any more perfect...

"M.F.E.O... what does that mean?... Made for each other."

While we were moving over the holiday break, I was going through a few things and came across my yearbooks from good ol' Clearfield High... Boy were those good times! :)

Anyway, in my yearbook from my sophomore year I found this little entry from the one and only Matthew Shawn Olsen.

haha... So the last part might be a little inappropriate but it was a little inside joke the two of us had! But through all those years of High School, and even after I graduated I sure whish I would have known all along that he and I would be married someday... It would have saved me a lot of stress! :)

I am so lucky to be married to my sweet little Matthew.

I couldn't imagine my life any other way!

I haven't been a very good blogger...

even Matt has noticed... and commented about it,

but I have an excuse.

and it's semi good...

We have been moving. :( We left our adorable home in Kaysville and we are now in Syracuse. It has seriously been very emotional for me... which is why I haven't even brought it up.

Once we are a little more settled I will fill you all in on the life of the Olsen's.

ps. I got a slightly disturbing phone call today. Someone who knew mine and Matt's names and our phone numbers... We are not sure how they got our information but it has me thinking that too much of our life is out there for anyone to see and that frightens me a bit. My sister Camille had her fifth baby yesterday, and she is so darling!

Lauren Ashley Cook

was born at 5:07pm weighing in at 8 lbs 10 oz and 20 in long.

I was lucky enough to be there for the birth, I can honestly say I have never experienced such a spiritual, emotional and beautiful event. Their little spirits are so new and it is such a special little moment!

I was able to photograph everything as it was happening, and some of these pictures are just too sweet not to share..

Crazy week!!

This last week has been a little crazy around the Olsen house. We had some interesting events, and also some very fun events. Here is a little look into our hectic-ness...

First off.. Thursday's windstorm really did a number on our little Kaysville neighborhood. The wind took off a lot of our shingles, almost ripped off our rain gutter and took out many of the trees on our street. :( We lost our power about 7 am Thursday mornings, and didn't get it back until 5 pm the next day. Since then we have had a few outages, but for the most part we are up and running. Thank you to my sweet parents who allowed us to sleep at their house all weekend, until we knew it was safe to come home! Here is my next door neighbors house.. Katie and Tommy had two beautiful big pine trees in the front of their house... and they are now completely gone!

The poor trees, laying in the street after being blown over.. When I took these pictures the wind was still VERY strong, and about blew me over!

This is my sister in law's house. The tree in their backyard fell onto their house.. The boys were so concerned that it was going to fall right into their bedroom. Luckily after lots of help, they got it all cleaned up!

Also, this is their poor shed... totally demolished. Along with almost their entire fence!

Even though the wind storm did a lot of damage to our little town, we feel very blessed that we did not get hurt, and that things weren't even worse!

That same night, my family kept the tradition of visiting the festival of trees. This was our favorite tree... only because it is all about my dad's favorite christmas movie.. A Christmas Story. It was really cute, and we had so much fun being with my family!

Friday night we were able to go down to the conference center to see Savior of the World. My sister Brittany is in it, and she did a wonderful job! :)

Finally on Sunday, December 4th, we were able to celebrate Lola's 2nd birthday!! She loves Mickey Mouse, and my talented Sister in law, Camer made this adorable cake! It was perfect, and Lola was so excited about it!!

When she started opening presents, she would get so excited for each one, and would say in the cutest voice, "Oh My!!" It was adorable! We are so glad we got to spend the evening with little Lolita on her special day!

After all the presents, she went around and gave everyone a hug she and Izzy are very cute :)

We had such a great time spending all week long with our families,

we are so lucky to be apart of them!!

Thanksgiving weekend

I was horrible at taking pictures this year! I guess I was just too caught up in all the wonderful family time, I didn't even think about it! I love thanksgiving!! It honestly is my favorite!

This year to start off the day two of my sister in laws, Camer and Frit, my mother in law Debbie and I all ran a 5k... Which actually turned in to 5 miles... Pretty funny story! Then Matt and I were off to see a movie with my family! Going to our thanksgiving day movie is my all time favorite tradition! After the movie we headed to my moms to start eating! It was wonderful! I love spending time with my family, and of course eating! :)

Once night time hit, Frat, Debbie, Connors and I all headed out for our black Friday shopping! We were quite successful and enjoyed our time running through the stores! After our night of shopping we headed to breakfast and then we were off to cut down our Christmas tree! This is becoming another one of my favorite traditions!

We had such a great week with family and we both feel so blessed to be apart of the families we have! 2011 is coming to a close in just a few weeks and I must say it has been one of my most favorites!!!

But I am positive 2012 will be even better! How could it not be?? Everyday with Matt gets better and better!! I'm so glad I get to have him forever!

Ever since we attended the temple last Friday, I have been overwhelmed with the spirit. I can honestly say that in the last year that I have been going to the temple, I hadn't yet gone with a purpose; until Friday. Being there with a question or problem in mind, has been one of the greatest expeirences I have ever had. I can't even describe in words the feeling I had when I recieved the answer to my prayers.
I am so grateful to have the temple and to be able to attend often.

Last night we were able to go to the temple with some of our good friends, the Pickards. We had originally planned to make it a big group thing with the Clemmers and the Jensens, but unfortunately they couldn't make it.

I always love going to the Temple and being reminded of all my many blessings, and to receive answers to my prayers. I feel very blessed and grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We are so lucky to be able to attend the temple often and do the lords work for him. I can't wait to go back and feel the spirit and peace that comes from attending!

It was the perfect way to start our weekend!

About a month ago we took Olsen family pictures, and we finally got them back this weekend! They are all so cute, and I can't wait until we get them printed! I know I have said it a hundred times, but I seriously have the greatest in laws. I couldn't have picked a better family to marry into! Every time I am with them I truly feel so blessed to be an Olsen.

Our little pit.

Friends and family, our sweet little pit bull is not going to make it. :( She is being put down today. Her intestines keep leaking and her body it too weak to recover from everything she has been through. Thank you so much to everyone who has been so generous and donated. We will be using those donations to cover the cost of everything she had done up to this point. If by chance we have anything left over, we will donate that to a local dog rescue. Thank you for all your love and concern. We are grateful that this sweet little puppy could be apart of our lives for such a short time.

This sweet little puppy just wanted to be loved, and thankfully we were all able to love her for the last week of her life. I am so so sad that we had to put her down this morning, but I know that she is happier now and no longer sick! She was such a sweet little girl, and I am so glad I got to be apart of the process in "saving" her.

My sweet Aunt Lynette found this adorable Pit bull on the side of the road today, and took her to the vet to see what could be done to help her. Her estimated bill is $2000 to get everything done that she needs!

SHE HAS A CHANCE if we can come up with the money!! Any thing will help!!

The Vet (by law) had to call Animal Control- they said there were no owners/reports & given her current condition, if they were sent to collect her, that they'd euthanize her. The Vet kept the dog & after a thorough examination, determined she is a Pit Bull mix, female, 2-3 yrs old & was (at some point) pregnant; there are fetuses of puppies in her gut that she is autoimmunely absorbing to sustain her through her starvation. Vet determined she needs: IV, Parvo test, Antibiotics, eye surgery, teeth cleaning (cause of serious infection) possible surgery on the unterminated fetuses, & to be neutered.

When we found all this out last night, I couldn't help but cry. I posted it on my facebook and have already had a huge response. So many people have been so willing to donate, and even offered to give her a home. This may sound a little cheesy, but I have been so overwhelmed with the kindness everyone has shown for this sweet puppy. We should know more today about the condition she is in, and if we should take action.

We will have a pay pal account set up, if you are interested in donating.

If you can't contribute anything, please just pray for her that she will be able to be healthy again, and have a good home to live in.

UPDATE!!! This little lady made it through the night and they are going to be doing her first surgery today!! Please go to this link and make any donation possible!! She is a little fighter! Lets all help her have the life she deserves!

Personal Trainer.

Well guys, I finally did it. I now have a personal trainer.

I have not been happy with the way I look and feel since last December when I got hurt

and couldn't work out for 6 months.

I have been working out and trying to eat healthy, but I have pretty much just stayed the same.

So I took it upon myself to do something about it.

We met last night and made my goals, had my first work out this morning, and my next appointment is Monday.

They are going through my cupboards and writing a nutrition plan for me,

along with creating a personalized work out.

I am really nervous and scared to do something so dramatic...

But I am really excited!

I already have a new perspective on eating and exercise.

In fact, I have dinner cooking right now that is totally healthy and smells delicious!

Hopefully I will be able to meet my goals and become a happier, healthier me!

Sleepless in Seattle

This last weekend, i was able to go on a long awaited vacation to

Seattle, Washington.

A few months ago Matt's mom and sisters all decided that we needed to go on a "girls trip" while the boys were off hunting. So we booked our flights and a hotel right down town in the heart of Seattle.

Seattle was beautiful, and I really could live there! I thought it would seem depressing and sad, since it is usually over cast and rains 300 days out of the year; but it was so peaceful, calm and everything was so pretty!

We spent most of our time shopping, seeing the sights, participating in a protest and eating! :)

Here are a few highlights of the vacation...

{before you get started on all these pictures, you may want to know a few things.

A: Nobody in the Olsen family goes by their real name. Everyone has a nick name, and using someone's real name always feels wrong and awkward.

We walked everywhere we went. Thank goodness for my handy iphone to guide us through the streets! Frat was our navigator, and she did a wonderful job of getting us where we needed to be!

Our first full day in Seattle, we took a Ferry out to one of the islands. Bainbridge Island. It was so quaint and adorable! Taking the Ferry was pretty fun too!

We at breakfast on the island at the adorable Cafe. It was exactly what we had pictured!

Pikes Place Market was one of my favorite stops! Amazing, delicious produce, and so many fun things to see!

Pikes has the most amazing flowers!! and so cheap!! A huge bouquet is only $5! I really wanted to bring some home.

We made a stop at the first Starbucks to get some apple cider! Yum!

Many of you know, Sleepless in Seattle is my favorite movie!! So it was very important to me that I sat in the same seat Tom hanks sat in, while in a restaurant at Pikes Market.. So then we of course had to do the scene, "So.. how's my butt?"

You may have heard about the big protests against Wall St. Well we watched a "march" and I think just about anyone who had a sign decided to join in. My personal favorite was "there's always money in the banana stand" For those of you who watch Arrested Development, you understand how funny this is! :)

I can't wait to see where we decide to go next year! I honestly think I have the greatest in-laws ever, and feel so lucky to have married into such a wonderful family! I love each of my sisters in law so much, and consider them some of my best friends, my mother in law is wonderful and so kind to everyone, and Gram is the the sweetest 81 year old I know!

It was a fantastic trip, and I can't wait for the many more ahead! :)

Timber!!

The owner of our home called me this morning to tell me a couple of guys were coming over to the house to cut down some trees. At the time I didn't really think about it and just told him that it was no problem (which even if it was, I have no say.. because its his house.)

But when I came home to this, I wanted to cry! One of my favorite things about our little house, and Kaysville, is all the mature trees. They are so pretty and add so much character.

Even though we still have MANY huge trees, Its sad that the one on our front corner is gone. My wonderful neighbor Katie, promised me she would plant another beautiful tree in its place!

It's things like this that make me realize how much I TRULY love our house, our neighbors and our neighborhood. I could live here forever, and just may.

The question is on the table... do we or don't we buy our home?

If we did, we would obviously either have to build on, or tear down and build all new. Both have their pros and cons, but it something I can't seem to stop thinking about.

I just don't know if I can give up our little home.

My sister Brittany has always loved snakes, and has always wanted one. A couple months ago, she finally got one. She loves her and is attempting to make our family love her too! :)

Although she is very creepy, and I am still too scared to hold her, she seems very nice!

Sunday after General Conference, Brittany brought her over for everyone to play with.

Matt has also been a little frightened by her, but finally got up the guts to hold her. Yikes!!

Snakes are pretty cool.. they are really strong and move so gracefully.

Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to do more than touch her! :)

Matt sent me these pictures this morning of him and Maeby cuddling! They are both the sweetest! Maeby loves to cozy up and lay down with Matt or me, and I love it!! And of course little Matthew is also just as darling! I love our little family!! It may sound a little pathetic, but I get so sad to leave Maebs in the mornings when I have to go to work..

And Matt kindly reminds me that if I am this way now with our puppy, he can't imagine how I'll be when we have a child! Haha :)

I have been a horrible blogger, but can I just say, school is controlling my life, and I dont have time to do anything fun! :( Hense, this blog being neglected.

So we did this a few weeks ago, but I still wanted to blog about it!

One Friday after Matt got home from work, we both went long boarding and headed up to Shmovels house! We got there and we were all a little hungry so we decided to take a little walk down to the Hot Dog Stand! Yes, there is a Hot Dog Stand in Kaysville! :) Right next to the Snowie Shack! Perfect?? I think so!

We all ate our HUGE hot dogs, and enjoyed our snowies! It was a great way to end our summer, and even though I am sad it is over, I am really excited for Fall and all the festivities that come with it!! :)

Although this is a day of tragedy, it is a day that I feel very grateful to live in this country and especially grateful for our armed forces who fight for our freedom daily.

I want to give a little shout out to my big brother Ryan, who served in Iraq a few months after the attack on the World Trade Center.

Ferron Reservoir

Every Labor Day weekend, it is Olsen tradition to head down to Ferron for a little camping.

As always, it was a blast! We had so much fun just hanging out, eating treats and spending lots of time on the four wheelers. This year Zann brought the Razor and it was a big hit with everyone, even Maeby got to take a little ride!

Driving down to Ferron can be a little rough... we always get stuck in traffic, and half the drive is on a dirt road. But once we get there, it is always worth it! It is beautiful and quiet and we love going!

We had so much fun!! Especially Maeby.. she was a little worn out by the time we left! :) She slept the entire way home!! and still hasn't gotten her energy back!

Matt's 24th Birthday

We had a great day together celebrating Matt's big day!

It started early with heading to Granny Anne's for Breakfast!

After we ate we headed home to get ready and then we were off to the Gateway.

We shopped around for a few hours and after no luck :( we decided we were ready for lunch!

Matt chose to eat at Z'Tejas and it was delicious!!!

we will definitely be going back soon!

After lunch we stopped at a few more stores than made our way home

one of my professors posted on Friday, that I had two papers due Monday morning.. :( so we had to take a little break so I could quickly get my homework done

For dinner, Matt wanted to go to our favorite Indian place in Ogden!

Kevin and his friend Paige joined us and then Brockton came by at the end! We had a delicious meal.. and we both could eat indian every day!! mmmm.....

Then it was back to the house for cake! Matt doesn't actually like cake, but he sure loves Ice Cream.. so I picked up and Ice Cream cake to celebrate, and it was a big hit!

We had a great day together, and I can't believe my little Matty is 24 years old!! For his birthday he is getting a new long board... but he hasn't found the perfect one yet.. so the search continues and he remains present-less until then.. on a good note, i'll get to keep a few hundred dollars in my account for the time being haha Look as long as you need to dear :)

Tea Party

Matt's mother put together a little girls day out and we had a tea party!

we went to this adorable little vintage tea restaurant in Ogden and had a delicious little lunch!

We all wore dresses and got to wear fancy hats! It was so much fun!

I am so glad I married into such a fun family!!

First Anniversary

We had a great first anniversary.

Matt had to take a reffing course up in logan on the 12th and 13th,

So we decided to make a weekend out of it.

I just hung out at the hotel while he was in class, and went shopping and did a little exploring, Logan really is a cute little place! I enjoyed my time there!

We had a nice little hotel roon to stay in for the night! We ordered some Wingers to-go, and had to get Sonic drinks, because they are right next door to eachother, and just enjoyed a night just being together!

Saturday we went to lunch at Papa Kelseys and then headed to the "Zoo" Which is just a park with some animals.. it was very cute!!

We had such a great weekend! I can't believe it has been a whole year!

Here is to another great year, with the best husband I could ever ask for!!!

Soon after Matt and I moved into our ward, we received a calling in the primary.

we have loved working and teaching our Valiant 10/11 class together.

Today, I was given a new calling.

I am now the 2nd counselor in the Primary Presidency.

I am scared, nervous and excited all at the same time. Being set apart today was a bit overwhelming. All of our friends in the ward came up after sacrament meeting to congratulate me in this new adventures and although I am really excited and know it will be such a rewarding calling, I don't feel like I am old enough or qualified to have this privilege.

Today marks our

One year anniversary.

I can honestly that this has been the best year of my life!

I can't imagine my life without Matt, and I am so grateful he is such a kind, loving, patient, respectful, funny, smart and perfect husband.

This past year has gone by so fast, and I really can't believe that it has already come and gone.

I can't wait for the new adventures that are ahead of us and the many many more years of marriage to come!

Matt reads this little blog of mine quite often, and I am positive he will look at it at least once today,

So Matt, Thank you so much for being the perfect little husband that you are. I am so lucky to have you and I am so lucky to be married to you for forever. I love you so much and am so grateful for everything you do for me and our little family! You are such a great example to me and to others and you make me so happy every single day.

Wednesday we were able to go to the Salt Lake Temple to see my sweet cousin Bryan and his new wife Keltsey be sealed for time and all eternity. Today we will be able to go witness Matt's cousin Colby and his wife Shelby be sealed together in the Bountiful Temple. I can't think of anything better for our anniversary, than to spend it in the temple being reminded of those special covenants and blessings we have. Congratulations to both of our cousins and their Temple marriages! :)

So this big news may not seem that big to you.. but its pretty big for me!

(and I think Matt would also agree.. so I guess its big for our little family.)

I have decided to make a bit of a career change and change my major..

which changes our future as a family!

As many of you know I graduated 2 1/2 years ago from LDSBC in interior design. I loved school, and loved my degree, but it has always been really important to me to get my bachelors degree. So I transferred to Weber to start my bachelors in Elementary Education. Because I continued to get the run around with the Elem. Ed department, I have spent the last 2 years taking generals in order to apply to the program. Yes thats right, I currently have enough credit hours to have a bachelors degree.. but still dont have it. If I continued in the Elementary Ed. program I am projected to graduate in 2 1/2 years, assuming I get into all the classes I need when I need them.

(Scheduling at Weber is a whole other issue.. dont get me started.)

So as of this last week, I have officially declared my Major in Family Studies and will be graduating in a year! It took a lot of thought, prayer, researching and discussion with my family, but I am feeling so relieved and feel like I have made the right decision.

Although I dont know specifically what I want to be doing as a career with my degree, I know it is the right direction for me, and it is very likely that after graduating I will continue on and get my Masters degree.

I feel a huge relief after making this decision and I know that it will be best for me and my little family! The exciting part is.. because I will be finishing school a lot sooner than planned, we may start our family a lot sooner than planned! :)

No I am not pregnant, and dont plan on getting pregnant any time soon.. but its nice to know that the pressure of finishing school is off my sholders and I can relax a little bit! So I guess Matt was right.. everything will work out and it is working out!

I am sorry if this was not the big news you were expecting... but for me... it is really big! :)

Also, Our 1 year anniversary is in a couple days and I really can't believe how quickly time has gone by! This last year has been the greatest of my life and I can't wait to see what the next year has in store for us!

this weekend was marvelous.

we did absoloutly nothing.. except spend time together!

one of our favorite things to do, is go to Costa Vida and get movie tickets with our meal.

Nothing is better than just being able to be together!

my summer of no work is now over :(

I go back to work next week.

it was a well lived summer!

it will be sad to see it go..

Rodeo & Family Camping

This last week was full of lots of fun adventures!

We hit up the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo on Wednesday, It was so much fun!

except I would get really sad for the cute little calfs that had to get thrown down and tied up :[

These little ladies loved to look at the animals!

and of course we had to get some delicious scones :]

We had so much fun going with the whole Olsen clan!

Then we were off for the weekend to go camping with my family and the Wilkes family!

Maeby was so excited, and she did so great in the long car ride!

Our little Maebs was in puppy heaven! She got to play frisbee all day long and run around with the other dogs!

The only sad part was, all the dogs had an allergic reaction to the weeds at the campsite, and broke out in this awful rash! Maebs has no hair on her belly, so she got it the worst! I was so worried, and was almost willing to pay a lot of money to a pet hospital to make sure she was okay! She was fine, and now that we are home and she has had a bath, she is fine! :]

Of course the best part about camping is all the card playing that goes on!

I could play screwy louie for days!

One night, Isabelle was playing with Papa in his tent and was having so much fun smashing her face against the screens! It was so funny!

We had so much fun, and can't wait to go on more camping trips!

We are so blessed to have such great families and be able to spend so much time with them! I hope everyone had a great 24th of July!

{Very Long Post... not tons of pictures... you might think its boring, but I had to write it all down!}

This last week, we were able to go down to St. George to spend a week with some of our great friends!

Saturday we left as soon as Jamie got off work!

We had to leave Maeby with Matt's parents, and we were very sad, but she loved being an outside dog for a few days!

On our drive down we hit some crazy weather, and it got to the point where Jamie and I were both screaming because the rain was coming down so hard!

Once we got there we went grocery shopping, and headed home for the night.

Sunday We woke up and headed to church, then spent the rest of the day playing lots of card games! :) and stayed up wayyyy too late!

Monday we went swimming and then headed down to Mesquite!

While we were down there we all went and saw the movie Super 8!

At the theater we saw this poster for the movie, The Help and had to take a picture!

Most of this vacation Jamie and I spent our time reading this book, and were addicted! Seriously.. I think we enjoyed reading the most of anything!! It is so good.. if you haven't read it yet, you really need to!!

Then we were off to see the casinos!

I have never gambled before and decided I wanted to try it just once... So we sat down at some slot machines and I put in $1... It took me a minute before I even allowed myself to do that!

I must say, out of the total of $6 I spent, I still have no desire to gamble. Jamie on the other hand really enjoyed roulette! :) hahaha

Tuesday Matt and I and The Jensen's decided to head over to the St. George Temple!

The Van Komens couldn't get a babysitter for little Alexei, and we sure missed them!

Because the temple was soooo busy, we decided we would go up and do sealings. It was such a great reminder of those special blessing we have being sealed together for eternity! I was so happy to have the opportunity to do them!

After the temple we hit up the Outlets... and The boys had more fun shopping than the girls...

Wednesday we got up and had Crepes (might I just add, it was so great having the Van Komens with us, and Nicks amazing cooking skills! Having a personal Chef is awesome!!!!) Then the VK's had to leave to make it back for the hockey game. We decided to stay one last night and just hang out!

After playing hide and go seek in the Wal Mart and getting ice cream on the way home, we cleaned up the house and got everything packed.

Thursday, we got up early and started on our voyage.. lets keep in mind that while we were on the trip, Kelly's air conditioning broke.... Do you know how hot St. George is in the middle of July???? Yikes.

We stopped at a gas station just outside of Filmore and found these sweet bracelets...

Friendship Bracelets are awesome!!! haha and yes, Matt is holding Kelly's hand..

Then our last request for the trip was to go and visit the UP house!

How cute is this???

Our trip was officially over and we finally made it home!!! So sad to have it be over, but nice to be home!

Thank you Kelly and Jamie for allowing us to come on this trip with you and stay in your house! We all had so much fun and we are so lucky to have such great friends like you!!

Nick, Autumn and Alexei, I am so glad you guys could come down, even if you had to leave a day early! It was so fun to spend time with everyone and just relax!!

Lets go on another trip soon!

**And what better way to end a great vacation, then to go to the temple. We spent Thursday night with The Wilkes family, where we were so lucky to be able to go support Bryan as he went through for the first time! I am so grateful for Temples, and for all the blessings we have because of the ordinances performed there. Congratulations Bryan, this is such a great accomplishment and I am so proud of you!!**

Fourth of July weekend.

The Fourth of July is becoming more of my favorite holiday, each year it comes!

This year was no different!

We started the weekend by spending all day Saturday together!

After getting some yard work and house work done,

We went to lunch at Pepperbellys :]

Oh how we love living in Kaysville!

Then later that night I spent some time walking through many of the houses in the Parade of Homes! :]

Once the clock struck midnight we were out to save our spots for the Kaysville Parade on Monday

Monday, The fourth, was a huge success!!

We went to the parade, then headed over to The Taylor's for a family BBQ!

I made a patriotic Fruit Pizza... and there were lots of other patriotic dishes :]

We even rented a snow cone maker and had some snowies to finish off our meals!

It was so much fun spending the entire day with family and getting to just hang out! I wish we could re live that day over again!

This last week, I started working with a new Client.

I am re designing his dental office, updating it, and making it a little more modern.

I went to my moms house yesterday to get all of my drafting tools and my rendering markers....

I almost cried getting it all out, because there are so many great memories attached to them. I met some of the most amazing people while in design school and I would do it all over again!

I have missed this so much, and forgot how happy it makes me! Drawing elevations and floor plans, wanting to jump up and down over a color scheme... it is all so rewarding! I love interior design, and I am so grateful for the education I received in this field.

Its good to be back :]

This last weekend, we got to spend lots of time with the Olsen family.

It all started Thursday at Boondocks!!

Gram decided to take everyone to boondocks, again, to have a little family reunion.

We love going, and we had so much fun being with our family!

Huffstetler Family Reunion

Then Saturday, we spent all day at Syracuse Heritage Days.

We went to the Parade, then spent a lot of time at the Park.

Our niece Ella was performing, and so we got to watch her, She did great!

not to mention while we were there we had 3 snowies! :)

Yesterday, it was our turn to go to Debbies for dinner!

After we had a delicious meal, we spent the whole evening outside!

We played 4 square, and croquet!

I love being a Francis, and love my family more than anything..

but I am so glad I married into such a fun family! :) I love being an Olsen!

I know I have said this before, but I just have to say it again,

I love our little house, and I love where we live!

Yesterday morning I woke up with the urge to sew.

I love sewing, and haven't made anything for quite a while...

So I called my mom and we went to the fabric store

(she is an excellent seamstress and could literally make anything! She knows tons about fabrics, patterns and design..

So I knew I needed her to go with me!)

I have been wanting to make some pillow covers for quite a while.. but was having a hard time choosing fabric... But yesterday I finally made the purchase and I couldn't be happier!

I got home, set up the machine and got right to work! I made 5 pillows in about 2 hours and wanted to make more! So, I used my scraps to make a Small table runner/place mat.

Here are my final products:

this pillow is double sided, and has some beads on the sides :]

I love these colors! In fact.. they match my bedroom almost exactly...

haha what can I say... its a good combination! :]

now on to the next project....

Today me and Maeby decided to go meet Matt for lunch and have a little picnic.

We drove down to Bountiful to pick Matt up, picked up our food, then headed to the park!

We had a lovely time sitting under a tree, and eating lunch!

Mmm.. Mo Betta Steaks is so good!

Don't mind Matthew's "mustache" he can't really grow one, but he is sure trying... I'd prefer it to be gone :]

Last week I officially started my first week of Summer!

This weekend, Matt and I spent all day Saturday working in our yard.

We had TONS of huge, tall weeds to pull, the lawn to mow, and tulips to trim.

After we had gotten the flower beds all cleaned out and the lawn done,

I went and bought some flowers with my mom.

Tonight, as a family (yes even Maeby helped) we planted our flowers!

If any of you had seen our house before the yard work, you know how horrible the flower beds were.

Whoever lived here before us, never really took care of the yard, so there was a ton of work to do. But we have had so much fun working outside together and making our little house an adorable little home!

Memorial Day Festivities

This year for Memorial day, we had so many family get-togethers and places to be!

We started the festivities on saturday by spending the day at the park for a Francis family party.

We ate lots of delicious food, played games, and then headed up to Morgan to visit my grandparents grave.

we are in front of Samuel Francis' headstone.. He started everything, and brought us here!

I love going to Morgan each year, something about that place just has me hooked.

Then Sunday after we taught our Primary class, we were headed down to Manti, to say for the night.

We played lots of games with all the Olsen's in the Hotel, and had fun being together.

we got to drive the whole way down with this little gem :)

We got up early Monday morning, to make our anual trip to the Wal Mart, and then up to the cemetary.

I also LOVE this Cemetary, because there is the best view of the Manti Temple.

and we all know how I feel about that temple! ♥

We had such a great time with our families, and thank you Brittany for house sitting and taking care of Maeby! :)

We had a wonderful mothers day weekend!

We were able to spend the day with both of our mothers.

First we went to my parents to eat dinner, and spend time with them. It was so much fun! We played a disney game and just hung out.

My dad even admitted the Maeby is his favorite dog. :)

Then we were off to Matt's parents.

We learned a new Mary Poppins song and all just talked and even watched some OLD home videos.

We are so blessed to have such AMAZING familys, and the best Mothers!

Cinco de Mayo

The Olsen girls are famous for throwing random holiday parties.

and I mean full out themed parties!

So yesterday, of course we had to have a party!

Shmovel put together the best Cinco de Mayo party ever!

we tired to get Matt to say the prayer in spanish.. thought it would be fitting... but, he doesn't speak spanish dang it!

Laundry.

Yesterday, Matt was being very helpful, and doing some laundry.

He went and changed the loads, and then even started folding them..

all by himself :)

Maeby sometimes gets a little anxiety when Matt is gone or something..

and so she was sticking right by his side once he was home from work.

She decided she wanted to help with the laundry too! :)

and she really laid there the entire time he was folding.

She is so funny, and so cute!

Red Iguana

On Friday we went to dinner to the Red Iguana with Zann, Camer and Lola.

We hang out with these guys, probably more than anyone else! And we love it!

I can honestly say they are our best friends, and luck for us, our family too!

Lola has been getting really sick lately, lots of ear infections, so Friday she had tubes put in her ears.

I'd say they worked like a charm, considering this is how she was acting while at dinner..

Easter!

I love this time of year, and celebrating Easter!

This year we celebrated the day with my family on Saturday.

We had an Easter egg hunt, rolled eggs, and ate a wonderful meal.

Rolling eggs has always been a tradition in my family, and I always think it is so interesting when I find out that there are A LOT of people who have never done it before.. one of those being my husband.

We have a contest to see who can roll theirs the farthest with out it breaking, and who's egg lasts the longest.

It is such a fun tradition, and I loved being able to do things with my family all day Saturday!

After I rolled my egg, it hit a bump and totally de-shelled! The egg itself stayed whole, but the shell just came off! We all thought it was pretty amazing! haha

Sunday Matt and I spent most of Easter together, just the two of us, and it was wonderful. It was my turn to teach our primary class, and the lesson was on Christ's Miracles. As I studied and prepared for my lesson

(which I honestly have to do.. my primary kids know the scriptures better than I do)

I kept thinking of the movie, Finding Faith in Christ.

if you haven't seen, I suggest you do.

While we watched this video in class, I felt so blessed to be here, and to be apart of our saviors plan. The movie goes through many of Christs miracles and ends with his crucifiction and resurrection.

As I looked around at our sweet primary kids, faces, I could see that each of them felt the spirit and knew the real reason we celebrate Easter.

Nothing is better than that.

I am so grateful for our saviour and his sacrifice for us!

I hope you all had as great of an Easter weekend, as we did!

I just got this today! My Chi flat iron decided it'd had enough of my intense THICK hair, and died.

So Haylee picked this up for me this morning!

I have never been so excited about a flat iron!

But this thing is amazing!!

It was a little more expensive than my Chi, but well worth the price!

Seriously, I can straighten my hair in half the time!

Week Update.

I have been slacking a bit.. I really have no excuse!

So I am catching up today.

Last weekend I celebrated my 22nd Birthday.

Because it was General Conference Matt took me to dinner Friday night.

We went to PF Changs, one of my favorites! Then we were off to a hockey game.

Saturday morning, Matt woke me up and took me to Breakfast, Camer and Lola joined us!

We headed back home and got ready for the day, then we headed to Ikea!

I have been wanting a bookshelf or a consule table for my from room, for quite a while,

and Saturday I finally got one!

right now it is filled with lots of random things from my house, I haven't really decided what Items I want to display in it! Lets just say its a work in progress.

I also FINALLY got dishes!!

Yes, Matt and I have been living in our house for 8 months and have never had dishes! Pathetic right?

Later Saturday night, while the boys were at preisthood, I went to dinner with my my mom and sister, and all the Olsen girls! It was so much fun!

I figured my brithday weekend was about over, when we finished the festivities Sunday night at my moms!

BUT,

Yesterday I purchased this gem!

not only did we not own any dishes, but we didn't have a washing machine either! Matt's mom has been doing our laundry since we got married! She is such a saint to do it for so long and to help us out, but now, I have never been so excited about doing laundry!

It has been a great week, and I feel very lucky to have Matt and my famliy, and sweet friends!

Ps. Maeby had her surgery on Monday. Poor puppy was so sore and tired all week! She is a trooper! I was so worried the whole time she was gone, but my house has never been cleaner!

Last night we made one last trip to the Ogden Temple before it's rennovation.

We were very lucky to go with some of our greatest friends, Emily and Colton.

This new renovation is such a bitter sweet thing for me, I am very excited to see how the new design will look, but I am sad to think that the Ogden Temple wont be the same anymore.

I know this new one will be beautiful! They all are!

Weekend of Cupcakes!

Matt doesn't even like cake...

but this weekend, all he wanted were cupcakes!

Friday night we made a stop by our local cupcake shop

Sugar Daisy

and picked these up! They were delicious.

Then saturday we went to

Sweet Tooth Fairy

with Jen and Chase

where we got these!

Both stores were so adorable! Sweet Tooth Fairy is decorated so cute, I could live there!

But as far as taste goes, I liked Sugar Daisy the best!

(but I'm not judging yet.. I plan on trying all of their cupcakes :)

If you haven't been to either, I suggest you go!

Matt still wants more, and is requesting that I try all these new recipes!

So I guess this week I'll be making even more cupcakes!

I NEVER thought I would be one of those people that treat their dogs like children...

in fact, I used to make fun of them on a regular basis.

but honestly, I can't help it!

Maeby is so cute, and I really do love her so much! She is the best little puppy!

Matt and Maebs are best friends and she loves to lay on him and watch TV.

Its really cute, because she really just stares at the TV and will literally watch whatever is on!

These two little sweeties are all I need! :)

Matt helped me get through a sad little moment last week, and it just made me realize how much

I really love him and what a great husband he is to me!

I know we were "meant to be". I couldn't imagine being this happy with anyone else!!

I almost burnt my house down last night.

It was a bit embarrassing, I don't really want to discuss it.

But then a thought came to me today...

It wouldn't of been too bad... as long as this book was in the fire!

at one point this semester I was really liking Math, and was doing really well!

Now... its a different story.

Next week is spring break.. and it can't come soon enough!

and just had some more great events to add to my very stressful/horrible day.. I wish it was Friday.

Last night we had our friends Jeff and Amy come over for a pretend slumber party!

We all wore our pajamas, played games and watched a movie!

We even had movie theater popcorn:)

It was a very fun night and we can't wait to do it again!

We spent ours cutting Matt's hair!

Since Matt went on his mission, he has been cutting his own hair.

Last night he decided he was done having long hair and wanted to cut it all off again.

He was nice enough to let me help a little!

So now it's all gone, and he looks like a little military boy

but I think its adorable.

Now we just need Summer to go along with this short hair! :)

Last night at the gym I did two classes in a row.

Body pump

which is basically non stop arms.. with a bar... with different weights on it.

and

Body Attack.

which is running/aerobics/jumping/squats/kicks... the list goes on

needless to say my ankle was a bit sore.

both great classes, I loved them, but I am definitely out of shape!

Killer. My arms are shot, and my legs are tight.

Seemed like a good idea at the time. and it was..

but I am definitely dealing with it today.

I wish it was the weekend again.

I can't wait to go swimming every day!!

I have the best job.. I dont work AT ALL in the summer and still get a pay check :)

So I'll be spending most my days lounging by the pool and going down water slides!

I wont even mind going by myself most times.

Although, I am sure Emily will take as much time off as she can so she can join me!

Valentines Day.

Remember last Valentines Day?

Matt really out did himself.

This year was nothing less! :)

Small sidenote: Before I tell you the details of our day, it is important that you all know that Matt doesn't have a car. We are a one car family, and I am the one who drives it to work and everything. My sweet husband takes the bus or his long board everywhere.

I got home from work, and matt had not made it there yet.. So I just hungout and played with Maeby for a little bit!

Matt finally walked in the door carrying these beautiful flowers and his long board :)

He had to take the bus and his long board all around to pick up my flowers!

i thought it was adorable.

Then we were off to get Sushi!

We dropped of Maebs at Frats house and the three of us went to dinner!

We headed back to Frats, made a stop at the local Petco, and got some Ice Cream from Maggie Moos!

It was such a great night! I love Matthew so much, he is the best Valentine I could ask for! :)

As of today,

We have been married for six months!

Time is going by so fast and life has never been better!!

{best day of my life! I wish we could relive it!}

I love being married, and I am so glad that Matt is my husband!

{Chinese New Year!}

Matt's sister Frit, and her roommate Kristafer hosted a great new years party tonight.

We celebrated Chinese new year with the whole Olsen clan.

They had delicious food, games and everyone dressed up!

so my adorable cousin Nate just made his first CD.

this kid is a walking miracle. you have no idea!

He is just starting out, and is trying to just get some feedback about what people think of his music.

Lesson Complete!

We taught our first primary class together yesterday!

I'd like to think it was a success!

Matt was so cute sitting with the boys, talking to them about their basketball games,

and who is going to win the super bowl.

it was adorable.

Our lesson was on the childhood of the Savior, I was teaching, but really appreciated when Matt would chime in... he knows a lot more than I do.

I made these picture cards, with questions about the lesson on the back, each child got one and had to read the scripture, and answer the question!

Then had these little handouts for them to do in sacrament meeting to keep them reverent!

Matt did his in sacrament meeting, and it kept him quiet thats for sure!

Everything went great and I am excited to keep doing this together!

Matt teaches next week.. I can't wait to see what he has in mind! :)

Today I was reading Becky Higgins blog, and I was starting to get a little depressed because I wish that I would have started project life at the first of the year... actually, I wish I would have started it from the day we got married.

I have seen this type of project before, Emily has it and I know a couple other people who are doing it, not necessarily the exact same thing, but similar.

Anyway, I still want to be able to start a project like this and keep up on it, forever.. but for right now, I really am just so glad I have this blog.

I have thought about deleting it multiple times (in fact, today I had this thought again), because I feel like people really couldn't care less about my life,

but then I remembered the real reason I do it.

This blog isn't to brag about how great I think my life is, or about how much I love my husband, It isn't so people can see how crafty I try to be, or how cute my house is...

This blog is my journal, and it holds some of the best experiences of my life so far. It is the best way, for right now, that I can document great events, special occasions, and friend & family moments to remember forever!

So its okay that no one other than my family really read this, I honestly dont mind. Because I dont do this for anyone else, except myself, and my future family!

[I plan on printing my blog in a book at the end of the year, and continuing to do that as long as I have it]

So right now, I am greatful for this silly thing, that consumes a lot of my time and a lot of my work day (woops) Because now I can remember the little things that I might otherwise forget!

Family Night!

Last night we went ice skating with our good friends

Nick and Autumn, and Nicks sister Mary, and her husband Dave.

It was so much fun! Matt and Nick play on the same hockey team, and are both used to being on the ice,

I on the other hand am not! I guess I shouldn't laugh when people fall during their games, because I almost fell every five minutes, and no one was racing me to the puck, or pushing me out of the way!

I am so glad we went! We had lots of fun, and even though my ankle was a little more sore after then it was before (woops) it was a very fun night!

We will be teaching the Valient 10/11 combined class!

I am so excited to be teaching with Matt!

I taught primary for three years and have had lots of practice,

Matt has never been in primary before but I know he'll be great!

I cannot wait for spring!!

The last few days have felt like spring time is coming,

but I know that I'll be disappointed when it snows again this week.

i'm really getting my hopes up though.

So this year for Brittany's birthday, she had her party at

FLOWRIDER!!

She used to live in Hawaii and loved surfing, so this was the closest we could get to the ocean!

I wanted to participate so bad, but Matt refused to let me even attempt.

I just found out that if you look at my blog on a

Don't know what that is all about, but I am not sure how to fix it!

6 Months???

So I met with the orthopedic surgeon yesterday.

Nothing is torn!! :)

that is great news!!

unfortunately.. I am back in my boot and still using my crutches.

They found out that I have a bone spur at the top of my foot that is causing

my tendon to be inflammed. which is why I am in so much pain!

Hopefully within the next couple weeks it will go down, and I'll start feeling much better!

Any contact with my tendon and it will rupture, so the doctor told me

No soccer (or any real contact sports or activity) for 6 MONTHS!!

I am sure once I start feeling better, I can do lots of other things like running, but thats about it!

So this is officially my life for the next little while...

Happy New Year!

We had such a great new years and are so excited for this next year together!

We've been making some resolutions and goals together and I can't wait to get started!!

Today we got to celebrate one of our favorite holidays

Frits birthday!

We consider this a holiday because she always has such a great party!

This year we went to classic skating and had unlimited passes!

I couldn't really participate because of my ankle and crutches

But I did hit the jackpot in the arcade!

This was a great way to start the new year!

Emergency Room.

In case you don't already know.. My husband is a very good soccer player.

On Tuesday night he played on a mens team and he did great!

So when we both got the opportunity to play last night, we were so excited!

its been months since we played coed together, and i've really missed it!

So after getting to the game through the blizzard...

I got in and played for about ten minutes...

then I got hit really hard.. and experienced the worst pain of my life!

I am not even exaggerating! I have never cried so much because of an injury.. and i've been hurt a lot!

Matt was right there after I hit the ground and carried me off the field.

after waiting out that game, and the next game our team played..

we made our way to the ER.

Thankfully my ankle isn't broken! but unfortunately... I can't walk!

I have a really bad sprain & re-injured the tendons that have already been torn... twice.

Having done this more than once... I thought I knew what to expect...

but i've never been so swollen, and in so much pain!

I have to go see an Orthopedic surgeon to get an MRI to see what the full damage really is.

thank heavens for my amazing health insurance!!

It ended up being a great night! ha I sat out and Matt play a great couple of games!!

seriously he is so good. he even scored a goal for me! :)

Hopefully I heal quickly so Matt can stop carrying me everywhere, and I can ditch the crutches!

If anyone feels like sitting on the couch with me.. or taking care of my puppy,

Come on over! :)

Matt has been so great at taking care of me, he is so worried about how I am feeling, and is doing everything for me!

I am so lucky to have him!

First Shots

Maeby already knows what the Vet is,

& she already knows she doesn't like it!

From the minute we walked in, before she even saw the doctor she was shaking & crying.

Maeby got her first shots today, and even though she was scared

she did great!

Once we got back home, she was worn out!

She never falls asleep on my lap, unless we're driving!

That is how worn out she really is!!

Poor puppy!
